NYS Reopening during COVID 19 Pandemic

Jun 28, 2020 by Michele Cunningham
Hello Rochester community and thank you for your diligence and commitment to being smart Rochesterians and playing your part to keep our community safe and healthy! This Virus is not done and we need to stay strong and committed to keeping each other Covid free.

How can you continue to do your part?

Wear a mask at all times when in public, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after any contact with any items, keep isopropyl alcohol of at least 60% in your car and use it on your hands after leaving a store, regularly clean all surfaces in home and car, refrain from touching your face, and of course continue to practice social distancing.

It has been a difficult time for everyone to varying degrees and we are all feeling stress in our minds and bodies.

As we navigate this new world and trying to keep each other safe and simultaneously seek treatment for our stress and pain, we ask for your help.

For many of our clientele, our work is considered essential critical care. We recognize your great need, however we understand it's most important to keep our community safe and healthy by limiting our number of sessions per day as well as utilizing strict safety guidelines.

HHM&W is committed to keeping you informed in these unprecedented times. Responses to COVID 19 are fluid and we are making necessary adjustments to our business practices daily; keeping you informed each day as you call to book your appointments or purchase Gift Certificates. We are answering phones and have been inundated with messages. Please be patient as it has been challenging to keep up with incoming calls, voice messages, and emails.

Frequently asked questions:

Are you open?

Yes, with limited availability by appointment only. Our profession was slated to reopen in Phase 3 as part of NYS re-opening Plan. HHM&W opted to stay closed for 2 extra weeks and have now partially reopened with minimal appointments and therapists. Please call us at 585-704-0704. If we don't answer, it just means we are busy in that moment, do leave a message and we will call you back in order of received.

How can you help our local business if unable to get in for an appointment right away?

We are mailing gift certificates as well as no contact pick ups, and welcome purchases. Please do consider the purchase of a gift certificate as we navigate these busy, hectic, tentative times.

If you have a particular therapist you regularly see, please consider purchasing one of their gift certificates directly from them.

What safety precautions are you taking?

We are following all CDC and NYS re-opening guidelines for our profession. In addition, since the first week of February 2020, we were on top of science based safety measures recommended by CDC, WHO and John Hopkins prior to any other local business in the area.

For your appointment, we will be requiring the following:

1. You must wear a CDC recommended mask entering building and for the duration of your session.
2. Please bring an eye pillow or cloth covering such as a scarf or hand towel to place over your eyes while you are face up on table.
3. Please use your rest room before arrival of appointment.
4. We have a No Touch Policy on entering and exiting building. When you arrive for your appointment call us and we will meet you outside of the building and hold all doors open for you.
5. Payment will be taken as we greet you at the building entrance before your session begins or over the phone.
6. Upon entering, please wash your hands for at last 20 seconds.
7. Your therapist will direct you to your room.
8. We will be keeping all verbal intakes to phone calls before your session date; it is understood that any exertion of the lungs such as talking is also a way to transmit Virus in vapor form. We ask that you refrain from any conversations during your sessions.

How long will you be performing these safety measures?

We do not have a definitive answer to this question, but we will be following CDC and reputable science guidelines as more understanding about COVID 19 unfolds. With this said, it will likely be for a long while; until a vaccine and or cure/treatment is fully accessible to every US citizen. Currently, science is estimating somewhere at the beginning of 2021.

Once again, we thank you for your strength, perseverance, cooperation and compassion for your neighbor. It is only by working together that we will see each other through these trying times. We look forward to treating you for your health and wellness needs!

Covid19 update

Apr 24, 2020 by Michele Cunningham
Response to COVID 19:

For sixteen years, HHM&W has been proud to help the Rochester community keep their bodies working optimally; relieving stress and offering support for mind and body, alleviating muscle aches and pains, and addressing injuries.

We continue to place a high emphasis on your wellness as healthcare professionals, which is why we made the decision to temporarily close for treatments one week before the NYS stay at home mandate. We are still here for you to answer questions, and book ahead (although we may need to reschedule - science on Virus dictates are timeline) .

For many of our clientele, our work is considered essential critical care. We recognize your great need, however we understand it's most important to keep our community safe and healthy by keeping our doors closed temporarily. We do look forward to working with you again in the future. We miss you.

HHM&W is committed to keeping you informed in these unprecedented times. Responses to COVID 19 are fluid and we are making necessary adjustments to our business practices daily. We are answering phones at this time, so we welcome your calls.

Frequently asked questions:

Are you open?

We are answering phone calls. Please call us at 585-704-0704. If we don't answer, it just means we walked away from the phone, do leave a message and we will call you right back.

Are you booking appointments?

We are not open for appointments right now, however we are booking for future appointments.

How can you help us stay afloat?

We are mailing gift certificates and welcome purchases at this time. They help us as this far we do not have any small business loans, pandemic unemployment (PUI), nor stimulus checks. Please do consider the purchase of a gift certificate at this time.

If you have a particular therapist you regularly see, please consider purchasing one of their gift certificates directly from them.

When will you reopen?

We do not have a specific date as the pandemic crisis is going to dictate our response. It is helpful for us to have you book after May at this time, although, this may change again. We will keep you updated for the most current information. It is best to reach us by phone and we welcome your calls!

When you reopen, what safety precautions are you taking?

As of the first week of February, we have been wiping all door handles doors/, toilet and sink knobs down with 91% isopropyl alcohol in addition to our traditional thorough cleaning regimen. In addition to this, we will be requiring the following:

All therapists and clients are required to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds upon entering our office and before touching any clipboards, pens, computer, linens or other office materials.

All therapists and clients are required to wear a mask, even during your appointments.

We will be keeping all verbal intakes to phone calls before your session date, and as we understand coughing and sneezes is one way to transmit the Virus, it is also understood that any exertion of the lungs such as talking is also a way to transmit Virus in vapor form. We ask that you refrain from any conversations during your sessions.

How long will you be performing these safety measures?

We do not have a definitive answer to this question, but we will be following CDC and reputable science guidelines as more understanding about COVID19 unfolds. With this said, it will likely be for a long while; until a vaccine and or cure/treatment is fully accessible to every US citizen. Science is predicting somewhere between Jan 2021 and 2022.

Once again, we thank you Rochester community for your strength, perseverance, cooperation and compassion for your neighbor. It is only by working together that we will see each other through these trying times. We look forward to treating you when it is safe for all!

Novel Coronavirus-What we are doing and what you can do

Mar 20, 2020 by Michele Cunningham
Hello world community!

Our phones will continue to stay open and we will be able to answer questions about your health and well-being, scheduling for future dates, as well as questions about the Novel Coronavirus (COVID19). Please reach out to us. We welcome your phone contact!

We would like to first thank the Rochester community for making us successful now for nearly 16 years! We are grateful for your patronage and the ability to help each and every one of you through your own healing processes. It has been our great privilege. We hope to retain the ability to serve our community looking towards our future and we will likely need your help.

How can you help?
1. If you are lucky enough to have a job and have no disruption to your pay like more than 50% of Americans have, please consider purchasing a Gift Certificate from your local businesses; restaurants, local shops, local coffee houses, and of course your local massage therapists and local Massage Centers, and small local businesses of all kinds.
Understand that many of us require your physical presence to sustain us financially.
We do not receive any income unless you come in.
2. Do your part to be extra mindful of cleanliness, thoroughly washing hands for at least 20 seconds, refrain from touching your face, and practicing social distance.
3. Continue to follow all CDC and WHO guidelines; science.

We are living in a quickly evolving new world. With the threat of this new virus or Novel Coronavirus (COVID19), it is up to each of us to own responsibility for mitigation of the spread. We each know and love multiple people who have immune compromised systems and or are elderly and therefor are at higher risk of death due to complications from this illness.

Although science is identifying growth in mortality from the healthy and young population in the US and Italy, why is unknown. This has expanded past what we've seen coming out of China.  What's important to understand is that it is occurring.

With the rapidly growing numbers of positive tests and deaths being reported here in the United States, we are rapidly approaching a load on our healthcare system that will not be withstandable.

For these reasons, among many others,
Healing Haven Massage & Wellness has made the difficult financially, but morally responsible decision to close down to the general public as of Sunday March 15th. We had already been at a self imposed less than 50% capacity since the first week of February; as we have been implementing strict CDC and WHO guidelines since that time; ahead of all businesses in the area.

We take the responsibility as health care professionals very seriously at HHM&W and have made it a priority to educate the public about COVID19 since it's inception. we have been tightening our sterilization at our office since the beginning of February (calling on a meeting among therapists). These extra measures include but are not limited to:
* With the entrance of each therapist, we wash our hands before any other job performance (we have always washed our hands before working with the public but now are washing as soon as we enter the establishment and again before entering your room to work on you).
* We have each client do the same when entering our establishment.
* We have been wiping down all handles with 91% alcohol- door knobs, toilet flush handle, etc, light switches, computer, computer keyboard and mouse, between each person that enters and exits.
* We continue to update our clients and the public on any changes to our guidelines as they may occur.
* With each phone call, text message and e-mail we have sent out the following message:

"We at HHM&W have been following strict CDC guidelines for Novel Coronavirus (COVID19)and Health care industry standards since the first week of February-
We will continue to regularly check in with you to ask questions concerning the safety and health of all clients to ensure a continued high standard of care.
In order to do this, we need the public's honest cooperation. With this said, please answer the following questions:
1. In the last 14 days, are you or anyone you have been in contact with feeling like you are becoming ill, currently sick or been sick with any of the following: Flu like symptoms, sneezing, coughing, stomach ache/ pain, fever?
2. Do you or anyone you have been exposed to have allergies or been sneezing alot?
3. Have you used any public transportation; airplane, taxi, bus, Uber, subway, etc in the last two weeks?
4. Have you been out of the country or state in the last 2 weeks?
If yes to any of these questions, we cannot take you at this time but can reschedule you out at least 3 weeks and check with you again at that time.
We are also implementing-
1. Clients as soon as you arrive, use the rest room to wash hands for 20 seconds before going into session.
2. Bring something to cover your mouth with in the event that you do need to sneeze or cough.
3. If you are a healthcare worker; hospital, clinic, private practice, etc-Please do not come to HHMW from your place of work. Go home and take a shower and change your clothing before your app with us and with any public interactions."

Thank you!
We are all in this together.
We look forward to our world community finding it's way back to a new normal. We wish all of you health, safe practices, happiness, love and light!
Treat each other with kindness and compassion.
