COVID-19 Test Positivity Monroe County and HHM&W

Nov 21, 2020 by Michele Cunningham
Hello Rochester community.

We hope you are doing well; happy, healthy and doing your part to keep Rochester safe.

In the last month since mid October, here in Monroe County, Rochester, NY., we have seen our test positivity rate of infection for CV-19 go from the best in the country per 500 thousand people at a 1.1% rate of infection to 4.4%.

It is for this reason, we are temporarily closing our doors Wednesday Nov 25th, the day before Thanksgiving, to do our part to keep our clientele and our therapists safe and healthy. As we approach a dangerous # of infections and cannot do our job less than 6 feet apart, we have made the decision pause our business. We will be keeping a close eye on the infection rate the 2 to 3 weeks following Thanksgiving and give updates on our Open for massage status.

We are here for you to answer questions and book out future appointments (CV-19 closure dependent). We are also able to mail out your holiday gift cards (which will have no expiration due to the pandemic).

Please do call us. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you with your health and wellness care!

Keep Rochester Safe; wear a face mask in all public situations, even outdoors, keep social distance, wash your hands, and don't touch your face. Follow CDC recommendations for not gathering with anyone who is outside of your daily living bubble.

CDC has issued a no travel advisory. If you must travel (only for emergencies), test within 3 days before departure, quarantine for 3 days upon arrival, test again on 4th day. If you are unable to follow test protocols for NYS, you must quarantine for 14 days.

We can do this Rochester!

Election Day Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 We are Closed

Oct 24, 2020 by Michele Cunningham
Today, Saturday October 24th, 2020 is the first day of early voting here in Rochester, NY.

Our Vote is our duty, a hard fought for right, and should be treasured as such. We honor our ancestors and all of our shared history when we do so, as well as bring our voice to this moments challenges and aspirations.

In honor of John Louis, Healing Haven Massage & Wellness is closing our doors for the day on Tuesday November 3rd 2020.
“My dear friends: Your vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union" - John Lewis
This election is more important than another day of lost income. We have already lost too much; democracy is more important than dollars.

As a small business whose economic loss has been staggering and is one of many small businesses who have been hit hard, many closing their doors forever, we share your frustrations and grief. At this time, our doors are still open, but we don't take for granted that tomorrow this may not still be true for us either. This vote is more important than us losing another day of income.

We stand with all of our brothers and sisters fighting for racial equity and real justice everywhere in the world. Yes, Black Lives Matter. They matter. Let me say that again; they matter. period.
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" - Martin Luther Kind, Jr.
"A democracy cannot thrive where power remains unchecked and justice is reserved for a select few. Ignoring these cries and failing to respond to this movement is simply not an option — for peace cannot exist where justice is not served." - John Lewis
This vote is more important than us losing another day of income.

Your vote is your right.

Your vote matters.

NYS Reopening during COVID 19 Pandemic

Jun 28, 2020 by Michele Cunningham
Hello Rochester community and thank you for your diligence and commitment to being smart Rochesterians and playing your part to keep our community safe and healthy! This Virus is not done and we need to stay strong and committed to keeping each other Covid free.

How can you continue to do your part?

Wear a mask at all times when in public, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after any contact with any items, keep isopropyl alcohol of at least 60% in your car and use it on your hands after leaving a store, regularly clean all surfaces in home and car, refrain from touching your face, and of course continue to practice social distancing.

It has been a difficult time for everyone to varying degrees and we are all feeling stress in our minds and bodies.

As we navigate this new world and trying to keep each other safe and simultaneously seek treatment for our stress and pain, we ask for your help.

For many of our clientele, our work is considered essential critical care. We recognize your great need, however we understand it's most important to keep our community safe and healthy by limiting our number of sessions per day as well as utilizing strict safety guidelines.

HHM&W is committed to keeping you informed in these unprecedented times. Responses to COVID 19 are fluid and we are making necessary adjustments to our business practices daily; keeping you informed each day as you call to book your appointments or purchase Gift Certificates. We are answering phones and have been inundated with messages. Please be patient as it has been challenging to keep up with incoming calls, voice messages, and emails.

Frequently asked questions:

Are you open?

Yes, with limited availability by appointment only. Our profession was slated to reopen in Phase 3 as part of NYS re-opening Plan. HHM&W opted to stay closed for 2 extra weeks and have now partially reopened with minimal appointments and therapists. Please call us at 585-704-0704. If we don't answer, it just means we are busy in that moment, do leave a message and we will call you back in order of received.

How can you help our local business if unable to get in for an appointment right away?

We are mailing gift certificates as well as no contact pick ups, and welcome purchases. Please do consider the purchase of a gift certificate as we navigate these busy, hectic, tentative times.

If you have a particular therapist you regularly see, please consider purchasing one of their gift certificates directly from them.

What safety precautions are you taking?

We are following all CDC and NYS re-opening guidelines for our profession. In addition, since the first week of February 2020, we were on top of science based safety measures recommended by CDC, WHO and John Hopkins prior to any other local business in the area.

For your appointment, we will be requiring the following:

1. You must wear a CDC recommended mask entering building and for the duration of your session.
2. Please bring an eye pillow or cloth covering such as a scarf or hand towel to place over your eyes while you are face up on table.
3. Please use your rest room before arrival of appointment.
4. We have a No Touch Policy on entering and exiting building. When you arrive for your appointment call us and we will meet you outside of the building and hold all doors open for you.
5. Payment will be taken as we greet you at the building entrance before your session begins or over the phone.
6. Upon entering, please wash your hands for at last 20 seconds.
7. Your therapist will direct you to your room.
8. We will be keeping all verbal intakes to phone calls before your session date; it is understood that any exertion of the lungs such as talking is also a way to transmit Virus in vapor form. We ask that you refrain from any conversations during your sessions.

How long will you be performing these safety measures?

We do not have a definitive answer to this question, but we will be following CDC and reputable science guidelines as more understanding about COVID 19 unfolds. With this said, it will likely be for a long while; until a vaccine and or cure/treatment is fully accessible to every US citizen. Currently, science is estimating somewhere at the beginning of 2021.

Once again, we thank you for your strength, perseverance, cooperation and compassion for your neighbor. It is only by working together that we will see each other through these trying times. We look forward to treating you for your health and wellness needs!
